It doesn't. Once you pass $10,000 in lifetime earnings, you stay at 7% — and at 5% once you pass $50,000. The tiers are cumulative and permanent.
Smith Pro is a $99/month subscription. While subscribed, you pay 0% commission on all jobs regardless of earnings tier. If a month isn't worth it (slow month), you can cancel and revert to the standard tier.
Once the client marks the job accepted, there's a 14-day hold for dispute protection — then funds transfer automatically to your Stripe Connect account. From there: standard ACH bank transfer takes 2 business days and is free; instant payout to a debit card arrives within minutes at a 1.5% Stripe fee (min $0.50, no platform cut on top). Early release is available on request via our admin team. Compare Upwork's mandatory 5-day hold plus 14-day client review window.
Funds are held in escrow. If there's a dispute, Smith reviews the original scope and the delivered work. If scope was met, funds are released. We don't auto-release on timers like Upwork — release is tied to approval.
